September Scavenger Hunt 

  Explore the children’s library during the month of September by participating in a fun scavenger hunt. After tracking down hidden clues, you can turn in the completed activity sheet to receive a small prize! 

Take & Make Crafts  

  While we take a break from regular programs during the 1st week of September, you can pick up a fun Take & Make craft to-go from the children’s library!  They will be available while supplies last. 

StoryWalk® in the Parks 

  Stroll through McEuen Park this fall while Where the Deer Slip Through by Katey Howes. Each page of the book is posted alongside a path that stretches from the library to the playground. The Library’s Higgens Point State Park StoryWalk will feature Little Loon Finds his Voice by Yvonne Pearson.

Night at the Library – Logic Puzzle / Scavenger Hunt (Ages 12-19) – September 2 - October 5 

Some main characters from books in the Teen Zone came to life and had to fight off some damage dealers. Use your research, reasoning, and investigative skills to figure out whodunit! Complete the challenge and get a free prize book (and be entered into a grand prize drawing)! (in the Teen Zone) 

This event is intended for teens, ages 12-19 

 

ITRC Digital Art Contest (Grades 6-12) – September 2 - October 31 

Design a digital badge for this year’s Idaho Teen Reading Challenge (ITRC) categories! Pick an ITRC category and create a badge to represent it. Draw, paint, sketch, or design it digitally! Make sure it looks good when printed small (like on a sticker or button). Turn it in to your librarian by October 31. (For Coeur d’Alene Library, submit your art in-person at the desk or email a high-quality picture of it to cdateens@gmail.com.)  
 
The ITRC categories for 2025-2026 are: 

  • Non-human main character 

  • Free choice 

  • Recommended by a librarian 

  • Features food 

  • Historical setting 

  • From the bottom shelf 

  • Mythology 

  • Graphic novel 

  • Something that you love 

  • Something that scares you 

There will be one winner per category, and each of the winners will receive a $25 credit from IDEAL-Idaho's 529 College Savings Program. Winning badges will be shared with libraries statewide!  

This event is a statewide contest that is hosted by the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) and is intended for teens in grades 6-12.
