Making an Impression: Printmaking for Seniors - Saturdays July 19-August 9 or August 16-September 6 (1-2:30 pm)

We are excited to announce this exciting creative opportunity for seniors! Studies have shown that participating in activities that stimulate creative thinking and skill development in a social environment helps improve physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing in aging adults.  Join us for four consecutive Saturdays to stretch your creativity, learn new skills, and socialize while local artist Sarah Windisch teaches printmaking. This class is open to adults 50+, and all experience levels are welcome. Printmaking is the process of creating an original image on a matrix such as wood or linoleum and then transferring that image using ink onto a surface. Sarah will start with the very basics of printmaking, from how to carve a linoleum block to different printing techniques that will result in several projects unique to the participants.   

We encourage participants to attend each of the four sessions (this will be offered twice) as the lessons are cumulative and will build on each other. This series will finish with a final culminating event on September 13 (1-2:30), where participants and community members are welcome to celebrate the art and accomplishments of all those involved. This program is made possible by a grant administered by the Idaho Commission for Libraries with funding from the Idaho Commission for Libraries, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Arts Idaho, and Lifetime Arts. Additional support is provided by the Idaho Commission on Aging and the Idaho Division of Veterans Services. Registration is required.
